Equispheres’ staff of researchers, metallurgists and engineers offer a range of services including custom alloy development and application support required to meet demanding aerospace, automotive, medical and military component requirements.
The Role
Equispheres is currently seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing operations team and be a part of the transformative additive manufacturing industry.
We are a fast-paced materials science and manufacturing business, engaged in the continued development and commercialization of our advanced powder-producing processes and their application in the industry.
This key role will consist of process engineering associated to the advanced powders production and supporting processes in order to fully understand the interplay of relevant process variables and their impact on performance. The applicant will also be responsible for asset management, coordinating the required maintenance and operational expenditure projects to improve operations. Additionally, the applicant will be heavily involved in the material flow optimization in the plant (material flow, plant layout).
The ideal applicant will be a demonstrated self-starter and problem-solver with a broad range of technical skills and demonstrated manufacturing engineering experience in a related industry. The applicant will also be comfortable in a hands-on capacity working with our highly experienced operations and technical team. The applicant will display a can-do attitude, inquisitive mind and be comfortable advising and leading the team to meet their objectives.
This position will work closely with all members of the Equispheres operations and technical teams reporting to the VP of Operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum Requirements:
- Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience and a proven track record working in several or all of the following process engineering activities:
- Mechanical design.
- Electro-mechanical systems.
- Design and application of fluid power (hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum).
- Must have experience in leading the deployment of new equipment and manufacturing processes in a production plant setting. Operating expenditure projects: small engineering projects to improve H&S, environment and production
- Must have experience in asset management (maintenance planning and coordination). Preventive, corrective, proactive; reliability. Shutdowns management.
- Must have experience managing contractors for mechanical, electrical, instrumentation works
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge with all or a combination of the following:
- Problem solving
- Definition of requirements and specification of production and process plant equipment.
- Preparing and maintaining P&ID and PFDs.
- Developing and maintaining SOPs and QA procedures.
Installation and coordination of new production and process plant equipment. - Developing new production workflows.
- Cost-benefit analysis of existing and new production processes.
- Leading or supporting risk assessments, PSSRs and HAZOP.
- Developing and monitoring KPIs.
- Working knowledge and experience of designing to meet applicable regulations and codes (e.g. TSSA, CEC, NFPA, OHSA).
- Experience with lifting devices
Highly Desirable Requirements:
- Professional designation or the ability to acquire or transfer within 6 months.
- Leading the rollout of operating expenditure projects within a production plant.
- Production ramp-up experience and working within a quality management framework.
- Experience working within an ERP system an asset.
Physical Skill and Abilities
Ability to work in a production floor.
