Metal additive manufacturing (AM) provides many advantages to industry, such as design freedom, improved supply chain logistics, flexible manufacturing and part consolidation. However, metal AM is a slow process, often resulting in high costs for part production. These elevated costs make the technology uneconomical for many applications.

Fortunately, modern high precision and highly controllable powder-bed fusion printers combined with specialized powder specifically tailored for AM can significantly increase the speed of part production and dramatically reduce costs.

Martin Buscher (Head of Testing Facilities at Aconity3D) and Evan Butler-Jones (Director of Application Engineering at Equispheres) will provide an overview of the considerations, specifications and calibrations they employed to enable a modern Aconity3D printer using Equispheres high-quality aluminum powder to increase manufacturing speeds by 3 times thus lowering the cost by over 50% per production part.
